Tweaking the Innovation.

Sketch out the product/service mix:

The product is creating a mobile application that will enable student to feel more comfortable with their living situations here in Gainesville. This product can be vast in variety as they are many apartment complexes here in Gainesville which student take residency. Also since some complexes are under the same management (e.g. Collier Company) this application will be able to reach many apartment complexes.

The Benefit:

The benefit of creating this1 mobile application would be for students to have a reasonable way to solve their living situations that make them feel uncomfortable. These benefits would allow those who don’t feel comfortable in their homes to solve their problems in a timely and effective manner. The app would serve as a back up to not hinder student form feeling uneasy and helpless in their living situations. With this app more student will feel comfortable and happy where they are living.

The Tangible:

So now let me talk about how I plan to solve the issue of student feeling uncomfortable in their living conditions with this app. So I will focus on The Collier Company as I know they are a real estate agency here in Gainesville that owns many apartment complexes. I will pitch my idea with them and hopefully get them to partner with me on this app. The app and I will act as the middleman/messenger from the student to the Collier Company and their respective apartment complex based on where the student is living. Anytime a resident feels there is something making them uncomfortable with their living conditions and hasn’t been solved, they will access the application and describe the issue. The user will have to create an account that includes their name, where they are living, and other relevant information that will better assist solving the problem. Once the problem is documented, I would advise the complex personally and insist that the resident is very uncomfortable where they are living. That is one aspect of the application. Another aspect would be a matchmaking quiz to allow prospective residents to ensure they get roomed/paired with a person with similar interests, cleanliness, sleep schedule, etc. A third aspect would be a subleasing service. If student would wish to move out of their apartment but are limited to lengthy contracts, this sublease service will allow those who wish to move out o advertise their apartment to be subleased. Also biweekly notifications will be sent out to student will an account to the app, to see if everything is fine with their living conditions and if any new problems have risen. Basically this app serves as a backup to student who feel that their problems have not been solved by prior contact with their apartment complexes.

The Augmented:

If the Collier Company decides to partner up with me and my application, it will serve to help them better please their residents and maintenance an extra form of pleasing their residents. Also some apartment complexes could be very limited and offer little help to problems that  this app can do such as the subleasing service or notification service. These are third-party services that apartment complexes don’t offer and for some residents they have to seek these services such as Craigslist, Facebook, and other forms. So by combing the notifications, sublease, and matchmaking services with the partnership of the Collier company and their several apartment complexes, the Collier Company will see a better resident satisfaction. Now on the residents’ side, they are having alternative ways to help them solve their living situations from making them feel uncomfortable and even prevent living situations from making them feel uncomfortable. Many students are busy and don’t have time to constantly be telling maintenance, and or their apartment complex management each little problem they want solved, so this app will help allow them do this on the go. The main selling point is the subleasing service as no apartment complex is affiliated with any sublease service. Instead they tell resident to go to Craigslist or other services that can discourage residents. If the service is partnered with the Collier Company, it will students more and the search for prospective tenants too.
